Throughout the year 2018..

Christmas 2018

We enjoyed another Christmas Meal at the Queens Head in Titchfield.  28 of us enjoyed fine food and company, with a traditional picture and "what's in the bag" quiz, courtesy of Joe (even though Joe was unable to make it to the meal this year .... thanks Joe) and the raffle, courtesy of Pat and Ade.  As in the last few years, we agreed to make donations to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance in lieu of exchanging Christmas Cards, details of which will be provided at the AGM.  We were lucky to have David Drew and his family who thanked the club for the support of the organisation which relies on such donations for the fantastic job they do.

Chairman Bob thanked Pat and Ade for their efforts over the year and for arranging the evening and raffle - thanks gents. He also invited all to the AGM on 17 January 2019 at the Milburys.

Numbers were down on previous years and we are aware that this has been partly due to illness, so we wish everyone a speedy recovery and A Merry Christmas and Good Health and Happiness for a great 2019 to all.

October 2018

Another year and another successful Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.  The ride sees approximately 130 bikes ridden by very distinguished gentleman (and some ladies) from Winchester to Brockenhurst, raising awareness and donations for men's cancer.  Pictured here: a very distinguished Ade on his A10 Golden Flash.....so distinguished, Deb didn't recognise him!  Congratulations to Russ for organising another great event.

A fantastic attendance at the Rising Sun for the first meeting of the month on Thursday evening.  Great to see a few fairly new returning faces, Colin and LLoyd, with special mention to Roger for his first return journey from Shirley with his 6V LED lighting on his Bantam.   Also nice to welcome a couple of lads visiting us again from Thames Valley Branch.

August 2018

The first weekend of the month welcomed our annual camping weekend at the Milburys in Beauworth, near Winchester.

It was a hot weekend which we all felt when setting up the marquee and tents on the Friday but it's always worth while.  Another great event and fun was had by all.

Friday night, we all congregated in the pub for grub and a quiz prepared by Joe, including general knowledge, picture questions and guess the object.  £1 each entry fee and all proceeds to Hants and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Saturday saw another fine day and a line up of 35 bikes ready for the ride out led by Joe.   The ride out didn't go without incident, with a couple of corners not being manned by the drop off system.  We did however enjoy a stop off at Fort Nelson (Picture above)  and had a couple of hours to look around and enjoy an ice cream before setting off again.  Another stop off after an hour or so riding at the Seven Stars pub before back to camp for the line up and bike of the camp being named as Neil Ives' fine A10 plunger.

Saturday evening and another well organised raffle proceedings by Pat; landlord Martin was over the moon with three wins....a bottle of rum and two flagons of cider.  Then basket meals for all before a game of killer skittles, with Wiltshire lad, Clive overlooking the proceedings and Graham Read eventually triumphing (excuse the pun!).

A fine start to Sunday morning saw a few pack up and head off for their journey home, whilst some enjoyed the final short ride out to Stokes Bay for the now legendary "ice cream run."

Thanks to everyone who made this another great weekend.

July 2018

A few of us attended the well organised French Summer camp in Melun, about 30 miles or so from Paris.  It was great to meet up with everyone from BSAOC's in Europe and even a visitor from America too.  A great mix of bikes were there with some pleasant organised ride outs, although with temperatures on average at 37 degrees, the full biking gear wasn't that inviting; it didn't stop us from enjoying the whole experience though.

WW1 BSA fine example (See the gallery for more photos including our visit to Paris (not on bikes))

The line up at Fontainebleau on a fine sunny day.  Some walked the short distance to a chateau to view the fine gardens whilst others enjoyed chatting and enjoying looking round the bikes and catching up with each other.

Many of us also enjoyed the evening entertainment that Steve and Claire and their team had arranged for us; a pleasant evening meal and disco and the following night a hog roast BBQ, and in fine British tradition, despite the week of high temperatures - it rained.  But it didn't dampen spirits whilst the slightly "heavy" blues band played.

A great time was had by all - thanks to our French contingent for being great hosts.

July 2018

Joe, Andy and Deb attended the Broughton Pageant of Transport, just the other side of Stockbridge.  As reported on last year, it was an enjoyable event with many different machines from motorcycles to traction wagons.

Joe found something of interest in the vintage military section.....

June 2018

Pat, Ade, Dick, Joe, Maurice, Andy and Deb met Graham R at the George and Falcon Pub at Warnford which was the starting point for a very pleasant ride out led by Graham.  The group was separated briefly as Dick pulled up, having lost his gear change lever but luckily Andy found it and we were soon on our way again.  An enjoyable club night, well attended and good weather.

Longest Day meeting.  A lovely evening, well attended and great to welcome 10 or so bikes (and riders!) from Thames Valley Branch; they had lost one of theirs early due to electrical problems and he left immediately to ensure a daylight trip home.  Otherwise lots of bikes, lots of chatting, lovely to see Pauline and Cheryl too - it means 4 wheels for Chris and Joe but worth it to see the ladies.

May 2018

A lovely picture of Gerry with his new toy.  Looking forward to seeing the A10 and sidecar in action.  Debs bagsies 1st go as passenger?

Joe loaded his A10 into his new van and enjoyed a trip to Belgium for the John Bull Rally.

Andy and Joe met up at the Classic Bike Meet at the Vine Pub in Bursledon on Bank Holiday Monday.  A lovely sunny hot day with 25 or so bikes of all types, to admire.

Another lovely evening for a ride in to Club Night with many turning out to share stories, making the most of the pleasant spring evening.

April 2018

St. George's Day Popham Breakfast Run....What a wonderful sunny spring Sunday morning.  Six of us met up at Wickham for the lovely run down to Alresford to pick up Joe and John on route to Popham.  Greeted by Thames Valley lads, we enjoyed a cuppa and an excellent breakfast before a few headed off home and seven of us went on to Middle Wallop Air Museum - for another cuppa in the very adequate cafe there, enjoying the sunshine and admiring many other 2 wheeled machines in the car park...old and new.

Thursday (19th) saw the first ride in of the year led by Pete and Bob.  A lovely sunny evening, the hottest for some time, welcomed 8 or so bikes ride in to the Rising Sun, for our regular group meeting.  A well attended meeting and great to be able to spend the evening in the car park enjoying the company, stories, and of course the machines.  Let's hope this is the start of some good riding weather?

March 2018

Friday 9th March we enjoyed a skittles evening at the Phoenix Pub at Twyford, kindly organised by Joe and subsidised by club funds.

The evening commenced with a split of attendees into two teams, The Bantams and the Super Rockets.  With a 1 - 1 scoresheet we broke for a delicious hog roast and salad before the deciding round.

Luckily the gap was big enough to allow for a duck by Deb on the Bantams' team, and we rose triumphant.  She claims that she was only really doing Jamie a favour by giving him a rest from the great job he was doing at placing the skittles.  Thanks Jamie.

A pleasant evening and fun was had by all.   A few more photos on the gallery.

February 2018

Thursday 8th February saw 16 of us attend our AGM.  A change of the guard followed with Andy and Debs resigning as Secretary and Assistant and Pat and Ade being voted in as their successors.  Other committee members remain unchanged.

All proceedings were done and dusted within the hour.  A great 2017 with £230 raised for charity and Hants Branch topping it up to £400 in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance - A fantastic result and thanks to all contributors.

Amy announced that she and Ben are moving on so new landlord expected imminently but we are assured that they are biker friendly.

Evening runs will continue from April to September with details on the Events page.
